gangLion Tour

:: Posted by BK @ 2/19/2010 06:36:00 AM

GangLion is a comics anthology featuring young cartoonists based in Ontario. Some of them are pretty sharp and it is well worth checking out. They are launching a series of promotions for the latest issue.

Press Release:

Join gangLion comics in celebration of their fourth issue!

Over the past year, gangLion has been cultivating a name in independent comics in Toronto. Works of tenderfoot comics' artists and writers are published in gangLion's semi-annual zine, offering artists the opportunity to share and hone skills in a supportive environment, and aim towards deadlines to celebrate their achievements. The very first issue was revealed in December of 2008, and now after much scratching and rumination, they are thrilled to announce the launch of Issue 4 - their finest compilation yet.

To celebrate, gangLion will be roaming about Southern Ontario and Montreal for a tour of comics-based workshops and launch parties. Along with co-creator and publisher Georgia Webber will be several of gangLion's contributors, and a touring band just to mix things up: Whistlestop, a brand new three piece outfit from London, Ontario originally, but now residing in Toronto.

Nice, Met a few of the contributors at events over the last year or so, and stopped at their table at Expozine and Word on the street - have an impressive collection of professional looking hand made books and some early zines. Looks like a pile of new stuff too! a closer look. Hopefully i'll meet them again when i'm not a empty pocketed dead beet. :)
